Friedrich Nietzsche (1844 -1900)

He is probably less often read than read about and famous for his aphorisms:

"My ambition is to to say in ten sentences what everyone else says in a book."

"Truth like morality, is a relative matter. There are no facts, only interpretations."

Initially influenced by Schopenhauer and Wagner he later forecasts postmodernism. With his metaphor of Apollo and Diyonisius for human nature he anticipated psychoanalysis and even evolutionary psychology. He also forecasts mass culture with the influence of celebrities ("Übermensch").

Die Geburt der Tragödie (1872)
Unzeitgemäße Betrachtungen (1873-1876)
Menschliches, Allzumenschliches (1878)
Morgenröte (1881)
Die fröhliche Wissenschaft (1882)
Also sprach Zarathustra (1883-1885)
Jenseits von Gut und Böse (1886)
Wille zur Macht (1886)
Zur Genealogie der Moral (1887)
Ecce Homo (1888)
Der Antichrist (1888).
